About

A family brokerage that explains the process.

Golden Key Realty is a family-run brokerage in Philadelphia. Gregory Mims has been in the business for twenty-six years; his wife Brenda has been a Realtor since 2004 and a Broker since 2010. They opened Golden Key together, and they still work the files themselves.

Between them they have closed more than four hundred transactions — buyers, sellers, investors and renters. That is a lot of settlement tables, and it is the reason they can tell you early what a deal is going to do.

What clients tend to mention afterwards is not the negotiating. It is that somebody explained the process and made sure they understood it — and that the phone still gets answered long after the sale has closed.

A small brokerage on purpose. You work with the person who knows your file, not whoever picks up.

Associate Broker

Brenda has been a Realtor since 2004 and a Broker since 2010. She and Greg opened Golden Key together, and she carries much of the administrative side of a transaction — the part clients notice most when it is done badly.

Agent

Deborah works with buyers and sellers in Philadelphia and the surrounding area. She puts the job in two parts: listening properly to what someone actually wants in a home, and marketing a listing so that it sells. She would rather have the conversation than not.

Why Golden Key

What a small brokerage can do that a large one cannot.

  • You get an owner

Greg owns the brokerage and still works with clients himself. Nobody is handed off to whoever happened to be free.

  • Explained until it makes sense

The thing clients say most often is that he made them understand the process. That is the job as we see it.

  • Buyers, sellers, investors, renters

Including first-time buyers and small investors — the people most brokerages find too small to bother with.

  • The same two people throughout

You are not handed to an assistant after the first meeting. Greg and Brenda work their own files start to finish.

How buying works
Frequently asked

The questions we get first.

What areas do you cover?

Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. Golden Key is a Pennsylvania brokerage and works the city and the townships around it — Greg has been doing it since 1999, so the answer to "what is that block actually like" is usually first-hand.

Will I be working with Greg himself?

Usually, yes. He owns the brokerage and still takes clients directly. Brenda handles a great deal of the transaction side, so between them you are dealing with the two people whose name is on the door.

Do you work with first-time buyers?

Yes, and it is a good deal of what we do. First-time buyers need time and plain explanation more than they need anything else, and that is the part of the job Greg is known for.

Do you work with investors?

Yes. Small investors especially — people buying their first or second rental rather than a portfolio. Greg has walked a number of clients through their first investment purchase from scratch.

How do I find out what my home is worth?

Ask for a valuation. It is priced on what has actually closed nearby rather than a computer estimate, and there is no obligation attached to it.

How do I get started?

A phone call. Tell Greg what you are trying to do and he will tell you honestly what it will take.
